mark matos  was given the name trans van santos in a mushroom vision at his san francisco home during the summer of 2011.  what the portuguese call a nom de guerra (war name), matos dons his cosmic apache war paint and transforms into santos in his fight for the light. playing a brand of music he calls americalia, santos performs his ceremony with long time running mate dave mihaly (mushroom, jolie holland) handling percussion, marimba, and vibraphone,  lutra lutra’s pony girl crowley singing lady bird harmonies with appearances by the angel voiced ladies of the family   (annie girl, lu lu belle, pearl girl) and the hands and ears of master violinist matt szemela (nina nastasia).  with elements of american folk, brazilian tropicalia, and suggestions of john fahey, hints of shakti, and neil young as spirit animal on space out mountain… it’s the soundtrack for a new, weird galactic western future myth.  hearts and bones with wings and rings.
