OS BEACHES
The son of a preacher man, BR was raised amongst the almond orchards and cow manure of california’s central valley, where he was a founding member of The Jabronskis (one of the gems of the Pavement/Grandaddy spawned central valley indie rock scene of the early aughtie’s). Considered the heir to the throne occupied by SF’s greatest psychedelic guitarists: a lineage that includes the likes of Jerry Garcia, Snake Fingers, and Nels Cline.
JOE LEWIS
Having held down the bass duties for such Bay Area notables as Adam Stephens (Two Gallants), old-time guitar virtuoso Craig Ventresco and Thao Nguyen, as well as fronting his own experimental music project, The Make-Shift Ensemble, Joe Lewis has long been a mover and booty shaker on the SF music scene. He is the guiding light behind the Blue SIx Acoustic Room in SF’s Mission District and the son of a folk singer.
JOE MILLER (GOLDIE ROCKS)
An Indiana boy with an Indiana smile. Goldie Rocks came to SF with his now defunct prog-rock band, The Lovely Public. The son of a mechanic, the only tools he learned how to use properly were a pair of drum sticks. A born drummer known for his relentless rock ‘n’ roll energy, Goldie Rocks has been named “cutest drummer in the Mission” by his legions of teeny bopper fans every year since arriving in SF and is the de facto Pope of Dolores Park.
MARK MATOS
The son of one of California’s most respected Portuguese radio hosts, MM discovered Rock ‘n’ Roll and LSD at an early age, spending a decade hitchhiking on U.S. highways in search of the Old, Weird America. Founding member of both Campo Bravo and Os Beaches, MM adheres to the philosophy of “Acid Gospel”,
a branch of Anarcho-Mystic-Discordianism that believes in the use of the Sacred Sacrament of Psychedelics as the primary tool on the golden road of human and social evolution. A published poet and co-founder of the New Sensationists poetry movement, MM is a wordy wanderer and a rock ‘n’ roll believer.
Matos and band have played shows with the likes of Smog, Okervill River, Howe Gelb, Richard Buckner, Akron/Family, M. Ward, Jackie Greene, Mother Hips, Black Heart Procession, Scout Niblet, and Neko Case, amongst many others. He has recorded with the Golden Boots, Jackie Greene, Nik Freitas (Conor Oberst & The Mystic Valley Band), Tommy Larkins (Jonothan Richman, PJ Harvey, Giant Sand), and Chris adolf (Bad Weather California, Love Letter Band).
